Overview

The STMicroelectronics NUCLEO-U385RG-Q Development Board is a robust evaluation platform for the STM32U385RGT6Q microcontroller. It features the Arm® Cortex®-M33 core in an LQFP64 package, synthesizing computational performance, energy efficiency, and integrated security functionalities. It allows developers to access an array of resources for STM32U385RGT6Q, including a substantial complement of peripherals, serial peripheral interface (SPI), inter-integrated circuit (I2C), universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) communication channels, analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) units, and digital-to-analog conversion (DAC) units.

The board also features secure boot, hardware encryption, software libraries, and example programs to ensure rapid prototyping of applications in IoT, wireless communication devices, robotics, consumer electronics, and many others.

Comprehensive Set of Peripherals for Versatile Prototyping Projects

The STMicroelectronics NUCLEO-U385RG-Q development board provides a comprehensive set of peripherals and modules to facilitate various types of sensors and external peripherals. The onboard microcontroller comes in a compact LQFP64 package, minimizing the design space. There are onboard LEDs and push buttons for running quick tests and example codes.

The microcontroller is powered by a 32KHz crystal oscillator. It features Arduino R3-compatible connection headers and ST Morpho pin headers to ensure access to all IOs in the microcontroller.

The connection headers can help developers test multiple IO peripherals of both digital and analog nature, thanks to the onboard DAC and ADC modules.  There are internal SMPS that also help reduce power consumption while working with onboard or external peripheral devices.

Enhanced Security Features for Powering Sensitive Applications

The board is loaded with some powerful security features that enhance its use cases for security-sensitive applications. It offers hardware encryption, secure boot, and Arm TrustZone® for advanced embedded application security.

Moreover, the board integrates with external development boards like Arduino and expansion boards thanks to dedicated connection headers, while ensuring high data security. Hence, increased compatibility enables it to expand its range of applications, especially in battery-powered embedded applications.

Also, its CAN FD transceiver lets developers smoothly integrate the device into the network via wired communication. Additionally, it offers a USB Type-C connector and USB SNK/UFP connectivity to connect with external peripherals and PCs.

Extended Support with Software Libraries and Example Programs

The STMicroelectronics NUCLEO-U385RG-Q development board comes with demonstration software preloaded in the STM32 flash memory. It’s part of the STM32Cube MCU Package and allows the demonstration of the device peripherals in a standalone mode. In addition to the STMCube, the development board supports wide-ranging integrated development environments (IDEs) such as the IAR Embedded Workbench® and MDKRAM. The board also features an ST-LINK debugger/ programmer, eliminating the need for any separate probes.
