Overview

The Renesas RAA2P3226 Sensor Evaluation Tools are designed for evaluating dual-channel inductive position sensors. The tools offer support for rotary dual-coil designs and linear position sensing, providing contactless, high-speed and high-accuracy position sensing, ideal for industrial devices. 

Flexible Starter Kit for Absolute Position Sensing

The RAA2P3226 Sensor Evaluation tools offer a powerful combination of a start kit and an evaluation kit. The starter kit is RTKA2P3226S00000BE, featuring the essential tools for contactless position sensing. 

It offers a configurable communication system featuring UART and I2C communication modules. Moreover, it provides ABI and Step/Dir output interfaces, allowing seamless integration with moving part objects, such as robots, motors, and encoders. 

Thanks to configurable designs, the starter kit can provide contactless sensing data at high speeds and high accuracy. As a result, it’s suitable for industrial sensing applications. The starter kit is best suited for low-voltage applications, supporting a voltage range of 3.3V to 5V.

Powerful Evaluation Kit for Linear Position Sensing

The second part of the sensor evaluation tools is the RTKA2P3226S00L00BE. It’s an evaluation kit allowing seamless integration with sensor modules. The evaluation kit specializes in high-accuracy linear position sensing. Therefore, it’s most suited for applications in conveyor systems, robotics, linear motors, optical and magnetic encoders, medical equipment, and industrial automation. 

Similar to the RTKA2P3226S00000BE starter kit, the evaluation kit provides configurable options with UART and I2C communication modules. It offers ABI and Step/Dir interfaces to integrate with external microcontrollers and processing units. The kit runs on the same power configurations as the starter kit. 

Comprehensive Kit Contents Reduce Dependency on External Hardware

The evaluation tools provide a comprehensive range of robust hardware. Notable contents available in the starter kit include:

  • RAA2P Communications board

  • RAA2P3226A1615 arc encoder design offering high accuracy, 18-bit resolution, and 89mm radius

  • RAA2P3226R3201 arc encoder design for 19-bit resolution, 72 mm radius, and high-accuracy

  • RAA2P3226R1601 with 18-bit resolution, 34 mm radius, high-accuracy encoder design.

The kit also features a USB-B cable and two interface cables. 

The contents of the evaluation kit include:

  • RAA2P COMBOARD

  • Two 10-pin interface cables

  • 5-pin interface cable

  • RAA2P3226L0264 Linear Sensing module (264mm) based on UART communication.
