Overview

The BigRep ONE.5X is a large-format fused filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printer designed for industrial-scale additive manufacturing applications. It features a build volume of approximately 1 m³, enabling production of full-scale components in a single print cycle. The system incorporates dual PEX2 extruders, automated calibration, adaptive mesh bed leveling, and input shaping algorithms to improve print consistency and motion control. 

The printer supports a range of engineering and third-party filament materials through an open material system. It integrates a heated print bed, removable SWITCHPLATE surface, and diamond nozzles for processing abrasive and engineering-grade materials. The system supports layer heights up to 1.0 mm and nozzle diameters up to 2.0 mm for high-throughput printing. Additional features include out-of-filament detection, relay backup mode, and remote workflow management through integrated software tools for monitoring, print preparation, and production control.

Large-Format Build Volume and System Architecture

The printer provides a build volume of 1005 × 1005 × 1005 mm, enabling fabrication of full-scale parts without segmenting assemblies. The system is designed for industrial FFF printing workflows and supports large geometries, tooling, prototypes, and functional components. The mechanical structure is optimized for continuous operation and high-volume additive manufacturing tasks.

Extrusion System and Material Handling

The system uses dual PEX2 extruders supporting throughput up to 200 g/h. It accommodates 2.85 mm filament and supports multiple nozzle sizes for balancing print resolution and deposition rate. Diamond nozzles and advanced hotend assemblies support abrasive and engineering-grade materials. A Keep-Dry Box protects filament from moisture and contamination during extended print cycles.

Automation and Motion Control

The ONE.5X integrates automated calibration, adaptive mesh bed leveling, input shaping, and vibration compensation. These functions improve motion stability and extrusion consistency during high-speed printing. Additional automation features include out-of-filament detection, relay backup mode, pause-and-resume functionality, and auto-sequential printing for production-oriented workflows. 

Print Bed and Surface Management 

The heated print bed operates up to 80°C and uses a removable SWITCHPLATE surface to support adhesion and part removal across different materials. Integrated sensors assist leveling and print stability. The system supports multiple material profiles optimized for large-format additive manufacturing, including flexible, recycled, and high-temperature filaments. 

Software Integration and Workflow Management 

The printer integrates software tools for print preparation, batch planning, monitoring, and production management. Functions include optimized slicing profiles, automated production planning, remote monitoring, and data analytics. Workflow integration supports real-time printer management, over-the-air updates, and production tracking across multiple systems.
