Overview

It provides an upgrade for the UltiMaker S5 3D printers allowing designers to create 3D printed stainless steel parts at a more efficient and affordable rate. The expansion kit features improved workflows allowing easier design for both new and experienced 3D printing enthusiasts. The kit makes it easier to design complex metallic parts for a wide range of industrial and educational applications.

Smooth Access to 3D Printing Resources

The UltiMaker Metal Expansion kit provides an end-to-end 3D printing workflow to the user so it’s an all-in-one solution for various metal printing needs. The designers can access the software optimizations, e-learning modules, and post-processing services. Moreover, as designers upgrade their S5 printers for metal printing, there is no need to modify the existing hardware. With just a swap of the print cores, the designers can upgrade to a new NFC metal filament allowing them to instantly start 3D printing of metallic objects.

Thanks to 3D printing capabilities, the UltiMaker metal expansion kit can reduce metallic part production cost by up to 90%. It’s cheaper than the additive and CNC-based methods. On top of that, it’s quieter and safer too.

Flexible Printing with Plastic or Metal

With a simple change of core, the designers can switch between plastic and metallic filaments. So, the expansion kit gives more choices to the designers without increasing the complexity of the 3D printers. Eventually, it enhances the printer applications making it an all-in-one solution for an array of 3D printing applications.

As a specialized metal 3D printer, the UltiMaker Metal Expansion Kit helps produce metal-optimized support materials. It features 17-4 PH stainless steel material that allows designers to create more complex and stronger metallic parts.

Hence, the complicated part geometry can be met thanks to a flexible design and material combination. Moreover, the UltiMaker Cura 5 also features the metal FFF. It provides better control that ensures high-quality parts production.

A Combination of Strong and Flexible Parts

The UltiMaker Metal Expansion kit features all the necessary components, adhesive, and post-processing parts to deliver high-quality metallic parts. The kit contains the following parts.

  • 1 kilogram BASF Forward AM Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH

  • Packaging for green parts and voucher for post-processing

  • 50 ml Magigoo Pro Metal adhesive

  • Free UltiMaker Cura software with optimized metal part slicing features

  • Access to exclusive metal FDM e-learning content on UltiMaker Academy

The UltiMaker Metal Expansion kit also allows the designers to create green parts and get them certified. For this purpose, the designers must create the part with the BASF Forward AM Ultrafuse material and send it for post processing and certification. The parts can be tracked online and usually return with certification within 10 working days.
