Overview

As part of the Creality Ender series, Ender 5 Plus is an open-source system meant for modification and upgrade to enhance desired features. Its main features include a large build volume suitable for big projects, an automated leveling process, and better stability from the dual Z-axis and Y-shaft motor for accurate printing. It has a removable tempered glass build plate for a more flexible printing process.

Design

Ender 5 Plus is the bigger version of the Ender 5 Series 3D printer having the same solid cubic frame design with an overhead gantry. The printer has the striking feature of having an enormous build size compared to average 3D printers with a glass bed area of 350 x 350mm and a Z-axis stretching to 400mm. Ender 5 Plus has an outside measurement of 632 x 666 x 619 mm, wherein the frame hosts both the filament spool and power supply.

4.3 Inch Color HD Touchscreen

The built-in 4.3-in  touchscreen allows users to adjust settings and conveniently choose 3D prints. Ender 5 Plus also has an HD display for showing key information on the printer's status.

Tempered Glass Plate

The removable tempered glass plates give users a smooth bottom surface finish and help remove models easier. The flat surface reduces instances where the prints get poor build plate adhesion due to warping.

Auto Bed Levelling

It precisely measures the print bed surface inclination and can adjust the Z-axis when the platform is uneven. The sensor has an active role in avoiding any error that may occur from an uneven print surface. It provides an overall reliable operation with all of the printer’s build surface.

Mounted on the extruder’s left side is the probe. The Ender 5 Plus uses a BLTouch proximity sensor, a contact-triggered technology from Antclabs. It assists in bed-leveling as it measures the bed while the Marlin-firmware compensates for the uneven spots. Aside from these capabilities, the user can level the bed using the hands as an alternative.

Dual Z-Axis & Y-Axis

The printer enables a layer-by-layer movement for smoother and more accurate prints. The dual axes ensure a high precision 3D printing during the entire process, which becomes more necessary in cases involving larger 3D printers. It uses the Gantry design, where the printhead rests at the printer top.

As the printing goes, the bed, along the Z-axis, lowers itself. Every axis utilizes a dedicated stepper motor with the Y motor driving both belts simultaneously—resulting in a smoother movement with fewer layer shifts. Meanwhile, large 8-mm rods mount the Z-axes in the middle of the bed.

Printing resume

The resume print feature provides safety to the power supply and works as protection when the printer suddenly shuts off during power loss. This feature helps the printer resume the printing process exactly where it left off prior to the power outage, allowing the device to achieve long-time printing.

Filament End Sensor

The sensor's active role is vital in detecting and avoiding printing errors. It detects if the filament breaks, stops flowing, or runs out. In such occurrences, the printer automatically pauses and will only resume after replacing the filament or fixing the flow.

Power Supply

The power supply has a CE certification and contains 500W power, heating the hotbed to 100 degree Celsius within 10 minutes.

Thermal Runaway Protection

As a firmware function detecting irregularities involving the heating process, the thermal runaway protection automatically shuts off the heating element.
