Solar Team Eindhoven is a student team from TU Eindhoven that won all four editions of the world championship for family solar cars. This year the team is not going for a family car, but is building a solar-powered driving house. SHOW is expected to hit the road in September.
SHOW stands for Self-sustaining House On Wheels. A mobile house in which you can live, work, and recreate while traveling on the energy of the sun. SHOW generates enough solar energy to drive, shower, watch TV, charge your laptop and make coffee.
"SHOW is self-sufficient in terms of energy and independent of charging infrastructure. This shows that driving on solar energy has many possibilities. The energy generated is used for both driving and living. Everything comes together in one independent energy system," says Kjell Revenberg, team manager of Solar Team Eindhoven. "SHOW gives a clear insight into your energy consumption. In this way, you deal with the energy you have in a conscious way."
Solar Team Eindhoven is a student initiative of TU Eindhoven. The initial goal of Solar Team Eindhoven was to develop a solar powered consumer car. The award-winning Stella's have been the inspiration for Lightyear One, the first Dutch solar car for the consumer market. This first goal has been achieved. With SHOW, the team now wants to contribute again to solving energy and mobility issues.
