Robot belongs to the group of so-called lightweight robots, weighing 18 kg, and is capable of manipulating objects weighing up to 3 kg with its secure gripper.

The high level of accuracy of the Franka Emika Robot, combined with force feedback, ensures consistent and accurate part placement, reducing failures, rework, and increasing productivity. It can be difficult to use small components to build up boards, as they can easily be displaced. Failures, reduced productivity, and additional rework may result from problems with component placement on the boards. These are challenges the Franka Emika cobot (collaborative robot) has been designed to tackle.

The process of connecting electronic components to printed circuit board wire is known as printed circuit board (PCB) assembly. To build the assembly, the traces or conductive paths engraved in the laminated copper sheets of PCBs are utilized within a non-conductive substrate. The final step before using the fully functional electronic gadget is to connect the electronic components to the PCB, which can be accurately done by the Franka Emika Robot. During the board assembly process, the Franka Emika Robot uses either surface mounting or through-hole mounting to add electrical components to the board. Electronic gadgets work with precision and productivity, and to achieve that, the printed circuit board assembly has to be effective and accurate.

Assembly of circuit boards is a procedure that requires extreme accuracy. There may be inconsistent quality if the task is handled by humans, due to a loss of concentration.
