1. Collection of Information

Information You Provide to Us

We collect information that you directly provide to us. This includes data you share when creating an account, submitting forms, posting content, purchasing a membership, reaching out to us through third-party platforms, requesting customer support, or any other direct communication with us. This information may encompass personal details like your name, display name, username, bio, email address, business information, and content you create, including your avatar image, photos, posts, responses, and series published by you, along with any other data you choose to share.

Please note that we do not collect payment information through our Services. Payment processing is handled by third-party payment processors, and we advise you to review their privacy policies before providing any payment information.

Information We Collect Automatically When You Interact with Us:

We automatically gather certain information, including:
  • Activity Information: This includes data about your actions on our Services, such as your reading history, sharing links, following users, and engaging with posts.
  • Transactional Information: When you make a membership purchase, we collect transaction details like subscription information, purchase price, and transaction date.
  • Device and Usage Information: We collect information about how you access our Services, including details about your device and network, such as hardware model, operating system version, mobile network, IP address, unique device identifiers, browser type, and app version. Additionally, we track your activity on our Services, such as access times, pages viewed, links clicked, and the page you visited before arriving on our Services.

Additionally, if you create or log into your Wevolver account through a third-party platform like Apple, Facebook, Google, or Twitter, we may access specific information from that platform, such as your name, lists of friends or followers, birthday, and profile picture, following the authorization procedures determined by the platform.

Information We Derive:

We may derive information or make inferences based on the data we collect. For example, we may infer your location from your IP address or deduce reading preferences based on your reading history.

We utilize the information we collect for the following purposes:
  • Creating and managing your Wevolver account.
  • Processing transactions and sending related information, such as confirmations, receipts, and user experience surveys.
  • Sending technical notices, security alerts, support messages, and administrative communications.

3. Sharing of Information

We share personal information in the following situations, as further described in this policy:
  • Sharing with other users of the Services: For example, when you use our Services to publish content, certain information about you may be visible to others, including your name, photo, bio, other account information, and information about your activities on our Services.
  • Sharing with vendors, service providers, and consultants: We may share personal information with third parties who need access to it to perform services on our behalf, such as companies assisting with web hosting, storage, infrastructure, analytics, payment processing, fraud prevention, security, customer service, communications, and marketing.

  • Aggregated or de-identified information: We may share information that has been aggregated or de-identified to the extent that it cannot reasonably identify you.

4. Third-Party Embeds

Some of the content displayed on our Services is not hosted by Wevolver. Users can post content hosted by third parties, which is then embedded in our pages ("Embeds"). When you interact with an Embed, it may transmit information about your interaction to the hosting third party, as if you were visiting the third party's site directly. For example, when you view a Wevolver post with a YouTube video Embed and watch the video, YouTube receives information about your activity, such as your IP address and the portion of the video you watched. Wevolver does not control the information collected through Embeds or how it is used. This Privacy Policy does not apply to information collected through Embeds. We recommend reviewing the privacy policy of the third party hosting the Embed before interacting with it.

5. Transfer of Information to Europe and Other Countries

Wevolver is headquartered in the the Netherlands, Europe, and operates with service providers in Europe. Consequently, we and our service providers may transfer your personal information to, store, or access it in jurisdictions that may not offer data protection levels equivalent to those in your home jurisdiction. For example, personal data is transferred to Amazon Web Services, one of our service providers that processes personal information globally. We take steps to ensure that your personal information receives appropriate protection in the jurisdictions in which we process it.

Legal Basis for Processing:

  • To fulfill our responsibilities under our contract with you (e.g., providing requested products and services).
  • Pursuant to our legitimate interests in processing your personal data to run our business and safeguard our interests (e.g., improving our products and services, conducting data analysis, and communicating with you).
  • To comply with our legal obligations (e.g., maintaining records of consents and tracking opt-outs from non-administrative communications).

Data Retention:

We retain personal data associated with your account for as long as your account remains active. If you request closure of your account, we will delete your account data within 90 days. We store other personal data for the duration necessary to achieve the purposes for which it was originally collected and for other legitimate business purposes, including legal, regulatory, and compliance obligations.
