About

I write about science for Washington University, including research in chemistry, physics, biology, earth and planetary sciences, and math. I came to St. Louis from an island in the middle of the Pacific. At the University of Hawaii at Manoa, I wrote about super corals, ocean microbes, and preparing for human space exploration on Mars, among many other great research topics. Before UH, I wrote about science and engineering as communications director for Tetra Tech, one of the largest engineering firms in the country. I may have the shortest commute of anyone in Public Affairs. My family lives in the Skinker DeBaliviere neighborhood just northeast of Washington University. My husband Ryan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, and our toddler son learned how to climb steps on the Brookings Hall front staircase. I love running in Forest Park and exploring the many parks and wilderness areas in and around St. Louis.
