Franka Emika Robots are serving up mocktails, coffees and soft drinks to technology fans in Switzerland at the Smyze Robotic Bar. Thirsty customers simply order drinks via a touchpad and the robot then launches into action preparing the desired beverage. The 7-axis robot arm performs all the same operation as a barista, even foaming the milk to precise temperature and texture.
The Smyze Robotic Bar presents a growing industry of robotic hospitality. Robots are making coffee, flipping burgers and even making pizza. The Franka Emka robot is easily programmable by staff to introduce new drinks throughout the year.
Without the need for human baristas, coffee bars could stay open longer or be placed in difficult for the staff to access spots such as factories.
