OKdo ROCK Engineering Challenge
Terms and Conditions
Entry Information:
- All entries must be submitted by April 12, 2023. 10:00 p.m. GMT.
- The opening date for entries is 3:00 p.m. GMT on January 12, 2023. The closing date of the challenge is 10:00 p.m. GMT on April 12, 2023 (“Closing Date”). Entries received after this time will NOT be considered. Organisers of the competition reserve the right to adjust these dates and extend the deadline.
- OKdo accepts no responsibility for competition entries that are not successfully completed, submitted or received by the Closing Date for any reason, including, for example, due to a technical fault or other equipment failure of any kind.
- OKdo and Wevolver claim no intellectual property rights over the material you provide to the Challenge. Your submitted designs remain yours. Your submission does not constitute an invention assignment to Okdo or Wevolver.
- By submitting your entry, you acknowledge that neither the work nor its use infringes the intellectual property rights (whether a patent, utility model, functional design right, aesthetic design right, trademark, copyright, or any other intellectual property right) of any other person.
- If you are selected as a finalist, you may need to supply additional video and/or documents for ‘proof of concept’. Failure to provide files may disqualify you from the challenge.
- If you are selected as the Challenge winner then you commit to executing a partnership with Okdo in a pilot/project throughout 2023. You also commit to documentation (video, interviews, etc.) of the journey during the partnership and execution for joint marketing purpose (feedback and inspire the community).
Eligibility Requirements:
- This competition is not open to anyone living in a country, province, or state where this competition is prohibited, taxed, or otherwise restricted (for example prohibits unregistered competitions or contests or requires OKdo to post a bond) under national, federal, provincial, state, or local laws, rules, or regulations.
- Written parental consent is required if the entrant is under 18. OKdo may ask the winner to provide proof of age.
- This competition is not open to employees (or their immediate family members) of RS Group plc.
Judging the Competition:
- The competition entries will be judged by a panel of judges who determine the solution that most closely fulfils the criteria for the competition.
- The decision of the panel of judges (acting reasonably) will be final, and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.
Prize Information:
All valid entries, up to 500, will receive a ROCK board of choice (depending on availability) valued between $45 and $159. The hardware will be posted to the supplied address following successful compliance checks. A valid entry is considered a submission that fully completes the entry form within the challenge timeframe and that the submitted idea is not related to the creation of weapons or illegal material and that the entrant is located within RS Shipping limits.(Check your region here). And is not from the limited countries mentioned above. One overall winner of the OKdo Single Board Computer Challenge will be selected to enter into a partnership with OKdo to develop their entry in a way that enables them to scale or improve their current model. This partnership is valued at $50,000. The partnership may be a combination of technical, design and/or business advice, prototype development, or other manufacturing or marketing assistance. The prize is designed in collaboration with the winner to give them the resources and support they need to grow from their specific production and business stage. The Wevolver Community Winner is decided through a public poll of the finalists shared through Wevolver social media. The voting opens after the finalists are announced and runs for a week. The winner is the entry with the highest number of votes. Only one vote per person is allowed. The winner will receive an honourable mention at the awards ceremony and be brought to the attention of the senior management of OKdo and its partners. Further, the winner will be interviewed for an article published on Wevolver. Prize: Honourable Recognition and media coverage.
- Prizes are non-transferable, non-exchangeable and no cash alternative is offered.
- The prize is supplied by OKdo, a company part of RS Group plc. OKdo reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the reasonable control of OKdo make it necessary to do so.
Winner Announcement:
- Winner(s) will be announced by social media and on the Wevolver website by May 3, 2023. Wevolver will send the name and country of the winner(s) to anyone who sends an email to the following address: challenges@wevolver.com within one month after the Closing Date of the competition requesting details of the winner.
- Winners will also be notified by email or telephone (using the details provided at entry) as soon as reasonably practicable after the Announcement Date.
- In order to claim the ‘ideas for hardware’ prize you must: provide a valid postal address. The winner will receive the prize by post within 60 days of being notified, subject to passing compliance checks.
- In order to claim the overall prize you must enter into a discussion with OKdo to determine the scope of the prize and its implementation within 30 days of being notified of winning.
General
- By submitting an entry entrants will be deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. OKdo reserves the right to refuse entry or to refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these Terms and Conditions.
- Insofar as is permitted by law, OKdo will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of OKdo, RS Group, or its agents or employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.
- If you are a winner of the competition, you agree that OKdo, RS Group plc and Wevolver may use your name, image, town or country of residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.
- Entries made on the internet will be deemed made by the authorised account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. In the event of a dispute, potential winners may be required to provide proof that the potential winner is the authorised account holder of the e-mail address associated with the potentially winning entry.
- Each individual is permitted to submit more than one project or idea, but only one board will be granted per person.
- OKdo will process your personal data as set out in: https://www.okdo.com/privacy-policy/. By entering the competition, you agree, in particular, that any personal information provided by you with the competition entry may be held and used by OKdo and Wevolver or its agents and suppliers to administer the competition and may be passed on to third party suppliers if required for fulfilment/delivery/arrangement of the prize.
- OKdo reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend or amend the competition where it becomes necessary to do so.
- The prize draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
